Panama is preparing for various commercial and cultural events scheduled for late 2026. The ‘Panamá Black Weekend’ is set for October 2 to October 4, organized by the Asociación Panameña de Centros Comerciales (APACECOM). The event involves 16 shopping centers and over 3,000 stores, with discounts reaching up to 70%. While domestic spending may be affected by unemployment and fuel costs, the Cámara Nacional de Turismo (Camtur) anticipates international visitors will drive an estimated 85 million dollar economic impact. The Panama Black Weekend 2026 has officially commenced, with organizers targeting at least $85 million in sales over the three-day period. Participating locations, including Albrook Mall, Westland Mall, and Colón 2000, are offering discounts between 20% and 70% on various goods. To manage high traffic and deter crime, the National Police have deployed approximately 1,000 officers for foot and vehicular patrols across commercial centers in Panama City and the interior. While the event aims to boost the retail, hotel, and restaurant sectors, some consumers remain cautious due to economic conditions, advising others to compare prices to ensure discounts are genuine. Regulatory bodies such as Acodeco are monitoring advertising and pricing throughout the event. In addition to retail activities, the country has scheduled regional festivals. The Feria Internacional del Mar recently took place in Bocas del Toro from September 17 to 20, featuring maritime competitions and gastronomy. Looking ahead, the Feria de Río Tigre is scheduled for October 16 to 18 in the Guna Yala Comarca.
