Panathinaikos is actively seeking a new center to strengthen its roster for the EuroLeague season. The club has previously prioritized the American market, monitoring players such as James Wiseman and Charles Bassey. Recent reports from Italian media indicate that the club made a formal attempt to sign Virtus Bologna center Aliou Diarra. Panathinaikos reportedly submitted a buyout offer of approximately 450,000 euros, but Virtus Bologna rejected the proposal, stating they are unwilling to part with the Mali-born center during the season. On the court, the team has shown resilience following a dip in form. In a significant EuroLeague matchup in Madrid during the 10th round, Panathinaikos secured a dramatic 115-112 overtime victory against Real Madrid. This win improved Panathinaikos’s record to 8-2 in the competition, marking a critical turning point as they aim for a top position in the standings. Following the match, Nunn stated that the team is “on the right track” and is working to find its rhythm after previous fluctuations in performance. The victory serves as a vital response to recent losses in both the EuroLeague and the Greek Basketball League.
