PAOK Thessaloniki has officially completed the loan signing of Croatian midfielder Kristijan Jakic from German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder arrives on a one-year deal that includes a non-obligatory purchase option reported to be between €4 million and €4.5 million. The loan fee is approximately €500,000. Jakic, a former World Cup participant, sought the move to secure more playing time, a decision supported by Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber. He joins former Augsburg player Dimitris Giannoulis at the Greek club. Following successful medical examinations, the transfer is finalized. In a broader squad reinforcement effort, PAOK has also signed Brazilian defender Diego Costa on loan from Krasnodar, a deal featuring a €7.5 million purchase option. With the Greek transfer window remaining open until September 15, the club continues to pursue further additions, specifically targeting a right-back and a central striker, with Millwall’s Milos Ivanovics identified as a primary candidate. Beyond football, PAOK BC has announced a three-year strategic partnership with GE Agrinio, running from 2026 to 2029. This collaboration aims to develop basketball academies, facilitate knowledge exchange, and identify talent within the Northwest Greece Basketball Union region under the coordination of Dr. Ioannis Grapsas. Additionally, MEP Giorgos Avtias has highlighted the club’s need for a modern stadium, suggesting the Nea Toumba project may require both state and private funding to compete with other major Greek clubs. Following the Jakic transfer, the club has also initiated electronic ticket sales for the upcoming derby against Aris. Concurrently, a PAOK FC delegation visited the VAR Center in Marousi to investigate officiating during a derby against Panathinaikos. The club reviewed communications regarding a missed penalty involving Van den Berg and Diagé.
