PAOK coach Alessio Lisio (also referred to as Lisi) has addressed the team’s performance and challenges during the UEFA Conference League playoffs against Brann. Following an initial 1-1 draw at Toumba Stadium, Lisio noted that the team struggled with fatigue after the 60th minute and failed to capitalize on opportunities. He also addressed the departure of Giannis Konstantelias to Dortmund, describing it as ‘almost impossible’ to find an immediate replacement of similar caliber. In the subsequent playoff match, the situation escalated into controversy. While acknowledging a poor first-half performance, Lisio heavily criticized the officiating. He specifically contested a penalty decision by referee John Brooks that led to a Brann goal, stating, “Nowhere is this a penalty – I don't know what word to use.” He further alleged an offside position occurred prior to Brann’s first goal. Following the team's elimination from European competition, Lisio maintained that a “huge, massive mistake” by the referee prevented PAOK from advancing. He noted that the club is currently undergoing a process of renewal and a shift in playing style, which requires time. Player Dimitris Giannoulis expressed the squad's disappointment but stated the team is refocusing on the domestic league and the Cup, emphasizing the need for unity among the 25 players to pursue remaining titles.
