Various organizations in Greece are organizing anti-fascist rallies to mark the 13th anniversary of the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, an anti-fascist musician killed by members of the neo-Nazi organization Golden Dawn. Gatherings have been scheduled in locations including Mytilene, Crete, Lefkada, Volos, and Kalamata. In Agrinio, the Labor Center has called for a mobilization. In the Piraeus area, specifically Keratsini and Nikaia, the Hellenic Police implemented emergency traffic measures, including road closures and parking restrictions on Salaminos Avenue and Petrou Ralli Avenue. To accommodate demonstrators, certain metro stations, such as Koridallos and Maniatiaka, faced service adjustments. In Keratsini, a central gathering was held at the Pavlos Fyssas monument, followed by a march toward Kokkinias Block and memorial activities, including a large concert. Magda Fyssas, the victim's mother, opened the Anti-Fascist September events by emphasizing the ongoing struggle against fascism. The commemorations also reference the 2020 court ruling that designated Golden Dawn as a criminal organization. On the anniversary, Athens Mayor Haris Doukas issued a statement noting that Fyssas’s message remains ‘more relevant than ever’ and emphasized the need for an active defense of democracy. Addressing the release of Ilias Kasidiaris, a convicted former Golden Dawn leader, Doukas warned against complacency regarding the potential return of such figures to political life, stating that fascism must be confronted with ‘boldness and active action’ to prevent hatred from returning to the streets.
