PC hardware stability and component failures

Overview

Reports indicate various technical issues affecting PC components and user experiences. Users have encountered hardware-level restrictions, such as a Riot Games Vanguard anti-cheat hardware ban affecting a second-hand AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor. Additionally, stability concerns persist regarding Intel’s 13th and 14th generation Core processors, with reports of continuous system crashes and blue screens despite BIOS microcode updates.

Other incidents involve physical component failures and defects. One report detailed a motherboard failure caused by a short circuit during a hot-swap attempt of a CPU fan connector. In a separate case, a replacement RTX 5090 was found to have a manufacturing defect where a 12V-2x6 connector was slightly lifted from the PCB, preventing current flow to a specific pin.
