In early August 2026, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton (Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) was hospitalized following a mental health crisis. During a TikTok livestream from his Miami home on August 4, Hilton engaged in self-harm, prompting a 911 call and intervention by the Miami–Dade Sheriff’s Office. Although automated systems flagged the broadcast, a moderator error delayed its removal, and TikTok subsequently banned Hilton’s account. Hilton was placed under a mandatory psychiatric hold via the Baker Act. Incident reports indicate he was treated for multiple lacerations, blood loss, and a suspected drug overdose. His brother-in-law, Tom, stated that the blogger also sustained multiple broken bones due to several falls during the incident. While Hilton is described as “lucid,” he continues to suffer from significant memory gaps regarding the event and still displays visible wounds on his face, neck, and arms. Family members have noted he faces potential “lifelong disfigurement” from the incident. To protect his three children—Mario (13), Mia (11), and Mayte (8)—from the trauma, they were evacuated from the home and placed in the temporary care of their grandmother, Teresita Lavandeira. While a Miami judge has granted Hilton supervised visitation rights, family members are currently limiting contact to phone calls to avoid further traumatizing the children. By mid-September, Hilton entered a residential treatment program to focus on his mental health. His family released a statement clarifying that he is lucid and communicates clearly, disputing recent online rumors regarding memory loss or specific physical injuries. To assist with the costs of providing full-time care for the children, producer Tom D’Angora launched a GoFundMe campaign with a $25,000 goal. ~~These funds are intended to support Hilton’s~~ By late September, Hilton has begun reuniting with his mother and three children ~~by covering unexpected childcare and stability expenses while Hilton remains in treatment.~~ through supervised in-person visits, following an initial period of communication via video calls.
