Perfection Fresh vegetable cartel legal proceedings

Overview

Perfection Fresh, Australia’s second-largest fresh vegetable supplier, has admitted to breaching competition law on 11 occasions between 2019 and 2020. The company admitted to cartel conduct involving the price-fixing of broccoli, cauliflower, and iceberg lettuce supplied to Aldi stores in New South Wales.

In coordination with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the company has proposed a $12 million penalty to the Federal Court. The proposed settlement also includes a requirement for the company to implement a competition law compliance program. While Perfection Fresh has accepted responsibility and cooperated with investigators, legal proceedings against three other suppliers and three individuals initiated by the ACCC in September 2025 remain ongoing.
