Sergio Massa, leader of the Frente Renovador, has been conducting meetings to strengthen Peronist political organization and position the movement as a competitive alternative to the administration of Javier Milei. In early September, Massa met with the Liga de Intendentes Peronistas in San Fernando to discuss the political and economic future of Peronism, addressing macroeconomic conditions, rising household debt, and infrastructure projects. By late September, these efforts expanded to regional meetings in Resistencia, focusing on the Northeast Argentina (NEA) region, and in Carmen de Patagones, where leaders like Diego Giuliano analyzed the impact of national policies such as changes to the ‘Zona Fría’ (Cold Zone) law. As of late September, Massa continues to advocate for a federalist approach and Peronist unity ahead of the 2027 elections. These regional efforts emphasize development proposals for the country’s interior, including road and energy infrastructure, science and technology investment, and youth employment. While Massa focuses on building a project that represents the interior, other regional political movements are also organizing for the 2027 cycle. In Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Ventura has announced his candidacy for governor under the Partido Arraigo y Renovación, and in La Rioja, Governor Ricardo Quintela has consolidated control over the Justicialist Party (PJ) by forming a unity list for upcoming internal elections. By late September 2026, political activity across various provinces has intensified. In Chaco, the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) elected Alicia Ogara as the first female president of its provincial convention. In Neuquén, Jorge Omar Sobisch has announced his candidacy for governor. Additionally, discussions have emerged in Mendoza regarding potential alliances between the UCR and La Libertad Avanza for the 2027 race. In Chubut, La Libertad Avanza is considering a strategic alliance with Governor Ignacio Torres to consolidate power.
