Perugia coach Aimo Diana has addressed the team’s development as they prepare for upcoming Serie C fixtures. In late August, Diana expressed a desire for the squad to maintain the spirit shown in previous matches while seeking improvements following their Coppa Italia performance. He noted that the staff is working to integrate new players and reported that most players have recovered from minor physical issues, though Cisco remains sidelined due to surgery. By early September, as Perugia prepared to host Pineto at the Stadio Renato Curi, Diana stated that the team had reached approximately 60% of its intended level. On September 5, Perugia secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Pineto, moving them to the top of the standings. However, the team's momentum shifted following a difficult week marked by three consecutive losses. As the club prepared to face Reggiana, Diana emphasized the need for more aggression and compactness to reverse their form, despite roster challenges involving Quirini, Angeli, and the suspended Papazov. On September 26, Perugia ended their losing streak with a vital 1-0 victory against Reggiana at the Curi stadium, where Tozzuolo scored the decisive goal. Perugia continued this momentum on October 3 with a 3-1 away derby victory against Gubbio at the Pietro Barbetti stadium. Davide Riccardi opened the scoring in the 29th minute following a cross from Cisco and a header from Van Amersfoort. Gubbio responded through Luca Barani in the 37th minute, but Alessandro Tozzuolo regained the lead for Perugia early in the second half. Luigi Canotto sealed the win with a stoppage-time chip shot. During the match, Diana briefly left the bench due to a minor physical ailment but was later assisted by medical staff, leaving vice-coach Emanuele Filippini to handle post-match duties.
