In mid-August 2026, the Peruvian sol demonstrated strength against the US dollar. During this period, exchange rates varied across different sectors, with the informal parallel market quoting the dollar at approximately S/3.35 for purchase and S/3.37 for sale, while official Sunat reference rates were slightly higher. Major commercial banks, such as Banco de Crédito del Perú, maintained significantly higher rates and wider spreads than the parallel market. The parallel market on September 9 showed a purchase price of S/3.340 and a sale price of S/3.365. By September 10, SUNAT reported a purchase price of S/3.355 and a sale price of S/3.362. Throughout this period, purchase values fluctuated between S/3.351 and S/3.360, while sale prices moved between S/3.360 and S/3.372.
