PGE Baltica, the offshore wind subsidiary of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, has initiated steps to support the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. This included a recruitment drive for approximately 100 staff members to staff a base in Ustka, which will manage land-based components, maritime logistics, and the Land Transformer Station in Osiek Leborski. Following these operational developments, PGE announced an updated long-term strategy titled ‘Energy of a Digital Future,’ focusing on 210 billion PLN in investments through 2035. The plan aims to transition the company toward low- and zero-emission energy sources by adding 11 GW of renewable energy capacity, developing 9.6 GW of flexible gas power, and investing in energy storage and nuclear energy, including small modular reactors (SMRs). As part of this strategic shift, PGE Baltica is relocating its headquarters from Warsaw to Gdańsk to improve operational efficiency and strengthen connections with local suppliers and maritime infrastructure as projects move toward implementation. Financially, the group targets an EBITDA exceeding 30 billion PLN by 2035 and intends to return to dividend payments, with the first payout expected to be recommended for 2026, capped at a 5% dividend yield. The company also plans to leverage digital technologies and artificial intelligence to manage increasing electricity demand.
