The Philadelphia Eagles are managing roster challenges due to injuries at the start of the NFL season. Starting left guard and three-time Pro Bowler Landon Dickerson has been placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury, which is expected to sideline him for at least four games. Dickerson indicated the injury resulted from being “rolled up on” during training camp, noting that he had previously expressed concerns about playing before being fully healthy. He stated, “I was a complete liability yesterday. Again, that was my fault.” Following a 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders, Commanders in their Week 1 opener, it was confirmed that Dickerson suffered a bone bruise in his right knee. He will be ineligible to play for at least the next four games, making him eligible to return in Week 6. During the game, quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 14 of 25 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns, despite facing three sacks. In addition to Dickerson, rookie tight end Eli Stowers has been placed on injured reserve following quadriceps and hamstring issues, reducing the team’s depth at the position. To address these absences, the Eagles are expected to utilize Drew Kendall at left guard and are relying on Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, and E. J. Jenkins at tight end. Recent roster moves also include signing wide receiver Britain Covey from the practice squad to the active roster and signing tight end Josiah Deguarawas to the practice squad.
