Zymire Hughes, 22, has been arrested in Las Vegas by the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, concluding a manhunt for his alleged role in a terroristic threats and harassment spree in Philadelphia’s Center City on August 12, 2026. During the roughly 20-minute incident, Hughes reportedly wore a Chucky-style Halloween mask while accosting between 6 and 16 people near City Hall, South Penn Square, and Market Street. Investigators believe Hughes may have filmed the encounters on a cellphone for social media engagement. In one instance, Hughes allegedly chased a 40-year-old female jogger, holding a phone in her face and asking, ‘Are you ready to die?’ The woman sustained severe leg injuries while attempting to flee. Another witness, Jameka Wilson, utilized her stage combat training to defend herself by kicking the suspect in the chest to disorient him. While Police Captain Jason Smith noted that the suspect may have implied he was armed, no weapon was visible on surveillance footage. Hughes was captured at an apartment complex in Southeast Las Vegas. Following the incidents, he reportedly fled Philadelphia via New Jersey and Florida before returning to his residence in Nevada. He faces multiple charges, including terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
