At the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, Filipino gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Karl Eldrew Yulo secured multiple apparatus final berths. Carlos Yulo qualified for the floor exercise, vault, and parallel bars finals, while Karl Eldrew Yulo qualified for the floor exercise and high bar finals. Carlos Yulo subsequently won the secured two gold medal in medals during the competition. He won the men’s floor exercise with a score of 14.666, marking narrowly defeating Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi. This victory marked the Philippines’ first gold medal of in gymnastics at the games. This victory placed him ahead of Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi and Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama. Following this win, Asian Games. Yulo was scheduled to compete also claimed gold in the men’s vault with a combined average score of 14.599. He secured the top spot after Iran’s Mahdi Olfati recorded a lower score on his second attempt. Hong Kong’s Ka Ki Ng earned the bronze medal in the vault event. A two-time Olympic champion, Yulo stated that these victories serve as preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and provided a sense of “redemption” following a fall during the vault qualification rounds.
