Phishing scam activity in Poland

Overview

Cybersecurity authorities in Poland have issued warnings regarding various phishing campaigns targeting citizens through deceptive SMS messages.

Initial reports from CERT Orange Polska identified scams targeting OLX marketplace users. These fraudulent messages, often sent under the name ‘Verify’, claim account verification is required and direct victims to counterfeit websites ending in the ‘eu.cc’ domain. Scammers have specifically used high-demand items, such as the PS5 Pro, to lure victims into providing banking credentials.

Subsequent warnings from CERT Polska highlighted additional campaigns involving alleged traffic fines and tax refunds. One method involves impersonating the e-TOLL service to steal vehicle registration and credit card details. Another campaign mimics the Tax Office (Urząd Skarbowy) by promising tax refunds to trick victims into revealing personal identification numbers (PESEL), login credentials, and payment card information.
