Phu Tho Province has initiated several programs to stimulate economic growth through tourism and the promotion of local products. On October 9, 2026, the province launched the ‘Phu Tho Tourism - Multi-colored Experience’ program, which includes exhibitions for cultural promotion and Vietnamese goods. The provincial government aims to establish the region as a national center for cultural and festival tourism, targeting 20 million visitors and significant revenue growth by 2030. In conjunction with these efforts, the province is leveraging its tea industry to enhance economic value. Managing approximately 14,500 hectares of tea, the industry utilizes various hybrid and specialty varieties for both domestic and international markets, including exports to Asia and the Middle East. The province is integrating the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) program to strengthen brand recognition, with nearly 100 tea-based products already achieving high ratings. Modern machinery is being implemented to improve productivity and help local tea products reach international markets. Recent updates indicate that high-yield and high-quality varieties now account for over 95% of the total tea area. The industry supports more than 1,000 production and processing facilities. Within the OCOP program, nearly 100 tea-based products have achieved ratings of 3 stars or higher, including over 20 products with 4-star ratings and one 5-star product. Hybrid varieties like LDP1, LDP2, and PH1 are primarily processed into black tea for export, while specialty varieties such as Kim Tuyen, Bat Van Tien, and Oolong are used for green tea production.
