The Piaggio Group has achieved significant legal and commercial milestones regarding its Vespa Primavera model. In September 2026, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) granted Piaggio a three-dimensional trademark for the Vespa Primavera shape. This registration provides protection across all 27 EU member states for both two-wheeled vehicles and scale models. The EUIPO determined that the silhouette has acquired a “distinctive character through use,” allowing the protection to cover stylistic evolutions that retain recognizable elements. This European registration follows previous trademark protections obtained by the Piaggio Group in Italy in February 2024 and the United Kingdom in November 2025, serving to safeguard the design against unauthorized copies. Concurrently, Piaggio Group Japan announced a limited ‘Vespa Primavera 80th’ edition to celebrate the brand’s 80th anniversary. This special edition, featuring a historical ‘Verde 80th’ pastel green color and custom wheels inspired by the 1946 model, is limited to 30 units in the Japanese market. The model, which includes matte-finish accents and wheels engraved with ‘Est. 1946’, is the third special edition released for the anniversary following the GTS and Sprint models. Orders for the 174cc model opened on September 25, 2026, with shipments expected in November 2026. The commemorative model includes specialized “80th” emblems on the front shield and glove box, and is priced at 632,500 yen.
