In Pisa, a public residential building demolition is scheduled for October 5, 2026, as part of an urban regeneration project. This work follows a previous building demolition in September and is intended to facilitate the delivery of 24 new public housing units in via Da Morrona. The demolition requires a full closure of Via Quarantola to both vehicles and pedestrians between 9:00 and 18:00 on the day of the operation, specifically near house numbers 3B and 3C. To manage the site, a bicycle path between via Beato Agnello/via Beato Alberto and via Quarantola will be temporarily removed, and pedestrian access to the bike path near the via Fra Mansueto garages will also be closed. Traffic will be controlled via alternating one-way lanes using flaggers. Parking bans involving forced removal will be enforced on October 5 in several areas, including Via Quarantola, Via Beato Alberto, and Via Fra Mansueto. From October 6 to October 16, traffic on Via Quarantola will remain restricted due to lane narrowing and alternating one-way traffic near house numbers 3B and 3C. Regarding the impact on the community, some former residents of the via Quarantola buildings have already been relocated to the new apartments in via Da Morrona, while others have been provided with alternative housing solutions. As of early October 2026, the closures in Pisa are noted alongside various other infrastructure maintenance and urban renewal projects across Italy, including waterfront regeneration in Catania and highway maintenance on the A-12 and A-14 networks.
