During the D23 fan convention, Pixar Animation Studio revealed details for two upcoming original animated feature films. On August 13, 2026, the studio shared art for ‘Gatto’, a film set in Venice, Italy, following a black cat named Nero. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, the project utilizes an animation style described by Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter as a “living painting” and is scheduled for theatrical release on March 5, 2027. On August 15, 2026, Pixar announced ‘Ghost Market’, a film directed by Trevor Jimenez set in Hawaii. The story, which follows a teenager discovering a supernatural market, was re-tooled from a Disney+ series into a theatrical feature. The plot is inspired by Asian myths regarding supernatural bazaars where the living and the dead interact, following Kyle, a fast-talking teenage content creator from Chicago. The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 10, 2028, joining a 2028 slate that includes ‘The Incredibles 3’.
