In late September 2026, residents of Gornja Vrbica in Kučime protested at the Podgorica City Administration to demand a resolution to a decade-long water supply crisis. Mayor Saša Mujović reported that a 700,000 euro permanent water supply project is 95 percent complete, but faces delays due to electricity supply issues identified by CEDIS. As immediate relief, authorities committed to paving a 400-meter road section and investigating temporary water connections. By early October, the administration expanded its focus to broader urban development. Mayor Mujović highlighted several ongoing and planned infrastructure projects, including a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, a new bridge over the Morača river, and a Western bypass. Additionally, the city completed an 800,000 euro promenade on Ljubović Hill, which includes 2,000 square meters of new green space. On October 16, the city commenced a 2.4 million euro project to extend Veljko Vlahović Boulevard by 800 meters. This extension, overseen by the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica and executed by contractor Crnagoraput, aims to connect Veljko Vlahović Boulevard with Josip Slade Boulevard. The new section is intended to serve as a bypass to divert transit traffic from the direction of Tuzi and the Božaj border crossing. The works include the installation of sewage, atmospheric drainage, sidewalks, and landscaping.
