Cultural events in Spain and Greece have highlighted various poetry festivals throughout late 2026. In early September, the Mediterranean Poetry Festival hosted a cultural dialogue at the Instituto Cervantes in Athens. The event featured six poets—four from Spain and two from Greece—to showcase contemporary creativity. The participating poets included Juan Carlos Abril, Mireia Calafell, Ledicia Costas, Ifigeneia Doumi, Inaciu Galán, and Stamatis Polenakis. Later in the month, several festivals in Spain celebrated the intersection of poetry and music. The Lloseta Poetry Festival concluded with a recital featuring multiple poets and musical accompaniment to commemorate the centenaries of Joan Alcover and Blai Bonet. Additionally, the Sopar Estellés celebration in L’Olleria honored poet Vicent Andrés Estellés through guided heritage tours, collective readings, and musical performances. In October, the XVII Festa/Sopar Estellés was held in Gandia to honor Vicent Andrés Estellés. The event featured an open-mic poetry recital and a performance by singer-songwriter Andreu Valor, serving as both a tribute to the author and a defense of the Valencian language. Also in Spain, Joan Buixeda Guitián was awarded the eighth edition of the Jordi Pàmias poetry prize in Guissona for his work, ‘El silenci dels versos’. The jury noted the work’s “philosophical character and rhythmic mastery.” The ceremony included musical interpretations of Jordi Pàmias’s poems by the vocal group Cor Xera.
