Authorities have also intercepted cards being transported across borders. In France, a specific incident involved four masked individuals breaking into the Smogtrade specialty card shop in Bourganeuf Zalier. The thieves breached the main entrance and stole hundreds of rare Pokémon trading cards, with the manager estimating the total value at approximately 80,000 euros. This robbery follows a broader pattern of high-value collectible card thefts observed in France and the United Kingdom. Recent developments highlight the logistical complexities of these assets. At Malpensa Airport, ~~authorities~~ customs officials and the Guardia di Finanza seized 605 Pokémon and One Piece collectible cards valued at over 27,000 euros from a passenger arriving from ~~Tokyo, who~~ Tokyo. The items, some professionally certified and kept in protective cases, were found hidden in a suitcase, trolley, and backpack.
