Poland has confirmed the transfer of two MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of a military aid package valued at approximately 50 million euros. One aircraft is flight-capable, while the other has reached the end of its operational service life and may be used for spare parts. The aid package includes 155mm and 152mm artillery ammunition, 20x102mm rounds for F-16 fighter jet cannons, and Piorun short-range anti-aircraft missiles. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamisz noted that providing the equipment to a defending army is preferable to letting it become scrap, adding that Poland will receive unmanned systems in exchange for the jets. The first American MQ-9B SkyGuardian is expected at a Polish base in January 2027. Additionally, Poland is in negotiations with Bulgaria regarding the potential sale of its remaining MiG-29 aircraft. Bulgaria is interested in the planes to support its combat aviation while awaiting F-16 Block 70 jets. Warsaw may reconsider transferring any remaining aircraft to Ukraine if an agreement with Bulgaria is not finalized.
