Recent incidents involving the Dominican National Police and violent crimes have occurred in Santiago, Santo Domingo Este, and other regions. In Santiago de los Caballeros, an off-duty corporal was intercepted by two individuals on a motorcycle attempting to rob him of cash and a mobile phone. The officer discharged his weapon, wounding both suspects. One suspect was identified as 21-year-old Delvis Diwary González Roa, and the other as a Haitian national named Wesley. Police recovered the stolen phone and a stolen motorcycle at a medical facility where the suspects sought treatment. Subsequent police operations in Santiago led to the arrest of 11 individuals and the recovery of stolen vehicles and motorcycles. In the El Almirante sector of Santo Domingo Este, a shootout between a DICRIM patrol and suspects in a ride-sharing vehicle resulted in the deaths of Luis Rivera Simón, 30, and Henrry Joel Borrell Rudecindo, 31. The driver of the vehicle reported that the armed passengers, who were wearing bulletproof vests, forced him to accelerate to evade police. Authorities recovered two pistols, bulletproof vests, and masks at the scene. Both deceased suspects reportedly had prior criminal records. Further violence was reported in the Serrallés sector of the Distrito Nacional, where 23-year-old Gustavo Adolfo III Mejía-Ricart Risk was stabbed multiple times by a motorcyclist who pursued him into a building lobby; the victim is in stable condition. Additionally, a shooting in the Los Coquitos area of Boca Chica resulted in the deaths of urban artist Jesús Alexis Delgado Ortiz, known as ‘Diddy Glow’, and Jonathan Villanueva, known as ‘Cotuí’, leaving ten several others wounded. Investigators suggest the Boca Chica attack may be linked to local gang rivalries or personal grievances from a year ago.
