Overview

Law enforcement in Barahona, Dominican Republic, has conducted multiple operations targeting various criminal activities.

In late September, the National Police arrested nine individuals of various nationalities for operating a fraudulent scheme. The suspects allegedly lured victims with promises of cash prizes and household appliances near a commercial plaza on the Sánchez highway. Authorities seized over 512,000 pesos in cash and several electronic items during the intervention.

Following subsequent police operations aimed at locating individuals with active judicial warrants, eight more people voluntarily surrendered to the National Police within a 48-hour period in early October. These individuals are linked to a range of offenses, including homicide, robbery, brawls, and fraud. The suspects have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for legal proceedings.
