Polish agricultural fire incidents 2026
Entities: Warsaw Tramway (Miejskie Zakłady Komunikacyjne) · State Fire Service (Poland) · Stawki Street · St. kpt. Andrzej Piechowski · Sodium hypochlorite
Overview
In July 2026 Poland experienced a series of agricultural fires affecting both livestock and crops. On 20 July a blaze at a pig‑breeding facility in Nowa Wieś, Czudec Commune, forced firefighters to battle the fire for roughly 11 hours, evacuate 150 pigs and treat four people for smoke inhalation; the incident prompted veterinary culling of a dozen animals and an ongoing police investigation. German experts later referenced a similar large‑scale stall fire in Coswig‑Düben, noting structural and animal‑behavior factors that hindered rescue.
A week later, on 25 July, separate fires damaged farmland in Lower Silesia and Pleszew County. A wheat field near Jawor lost 70 hectares of stubble and 15 hectares of mature crop, while a grain fire on a railway embankment burned about 800 square metres. Local fire units contained both blazes without injuries.
Authorities continued to monitor fire risks in the agricultural sector, but no further agricultural fire incidents have been reported in Poland since the July 25 events.
