Polish infrastructure improvement projects

Entities: City of Zamość · Śrem Bridge · Bydgoszcz city · Parish of Saint Nicholas in Lubliniec · Wrocław city

Overview

In late July 2026 Poland continued a wave of public‑works investments across several regions. On 30 July a 62‑metre overpass opened in Żory, Silesian Voivodeship, replacing a level crossing on PKP line 148. The 67 million zł structure includes widened sidewalks, elevators for reduced‑mobility users, a dedicated bicycle path and a parallel bridge over the Ruda River, allowing passenger trains to run at up to 160 km/h and cutting the Pszczyna‑Żory journey by roughly 11 minutes.

The same day municipal authorities launched additional projects. In Warsaw, Zajączka and Krajewskiego streets are being fully reconstructed with a new sub‑base and surface, slated for completion after the summer holidays. Pasłęk signed a contract to install solar‑powered speed‑display radars, reflective cat‑eyes and coloured pedestrian markings, funded with 166 919 zł.

Bydgoszcz’s new kindergarten on Bartodziejach is being finalised under the “Active Child” programme with an 18 million zł grant. School thermomodernisation projects are under way in Mokronos, Stara Obrze and Borzęciczki, replacing windows, doors and heating systems with ground‑source heat pumps, largely EU‑co‑financed.

In Śrem a 500 mm‑diameter water main is being drilled beneath the Warta River to improve supply reliability. Other local initiatives include a historic bus‑stop shelter renovation in Szczecin, the reopening of a pedestrian‑friendly viaduct in Katowice, and a multi‑million‑zł pedestrian‑and‑bicycle path network planned for Biłgoraj County. Together, these actions illustrate Poland’s sustained focus on upgrading transport links, utilities, education facilities and historic urban fabric.
