In mid-October 2026, wreckage found on a beach in Karwia was identified by Polish authorities as a military drone. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated the object resulted from recent military exercises in Ustka, where the drone was shot down using anti-drone systems. The discovery prompted investigations by the Military Gendarmerie, the Internal Security Agency, and the Military Counterintelligence Service to rule out chemical, biological, or radiological threats. On October 20, a separate incident occurred in Józefów, near Warsaw, when a military training drone crashed onto private property. The Military Institute of Armament Technology reported that operators lost connection with the unarmed unmanned aerial vehicle during a training flight. Local officials confirmed there were no injuries or material damage. On October 21, an unidentified object resembling a small drone or aircraft crashed onto uninhabited private property in Lubaczów, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship near the border. The object, described as being several dozen centimeters long and made of lightweight materials like plastic or styrofoam, prompted the deployment of the Military Gendarmerie, the Internal Security Agency (ABW), and the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW). Authorities implemented safety protocols, including evacuating residents within a 150-meter radius to mitigate potential risks from explosive, biological, or chemical materials. While unofficial reports suggested the object might be a reconnaissance or smuggling drone, official investigations are ongoing to determine its origin. No injuries or property damage were reported.
