Polish police recognition recognition, recruitment and awards ceremonies competitions
Polish police departments have conducted various ceremonies to recognize officer achievements and service. In early September, regional eliminations for the 16th National Community Police Officer of the Year 2026 competition concluded in the Silesian and Mazovian voivodeships. The event in Silesia honored junior inspector Andrzej Mika and Commissioner Mateusz Łabuś, while the Mazovian competition in Radom identified several winners who will advance to the national finals in Katowice. This event also marked the 100th anniversary of the community officer position. Following these competitions, ceremonies held in the Łódź and Greater Poland regions marked Police Day. In Szczytno, 26 officers were promoted to their first officer rank. In Poznań, decorations and prizes were awarded to officers from the Greater Poland region, including Gold Medals for long-term service and the Silver ‘Meritorious Policeman’ badge. By late September, recruitment and professional development initiatives expanded across other regions. In Lower Silesia, the regional garrison welcomed 150 new officers who will begin six months of training in legal regulations, intervention tactics, and service duties. Professional competitions also continued in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podkarpackie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, and Podlaskie regions, where disciplinary officers competed in tests regarding legal procedures and professional responsibility. Meanwhile, in Wrocław, a municipal competition for officers serving as public prosecutors focused on investigative procedures and misdemeanor law, with the winner advancing to the provincial level.
