On 31 July 2026, police in Rumia treated a cyclist who had consumed about a litre of vodka, suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital; officers also dealt with a false stabbing report in Siemianowice Śląskie, where a woman fabricated the emergency to obtain a ride home and now faces a fine. The next day, 1 August 2026, a 24‑year‑old driver who fled a routine traffic stop near Piła lost control, crashed into a tree and died, prompting a police and prosecutor investigation. In early August, further serious road incidents were recorded. On 2 August 2026 a 36‑year‑old motorcyclist crashed on the S5 bridge near Modliszew; despite intensive resuscitation he died in hospital. A separate collision on 31 July in the village of Motyl near Wieluń involved a 46‑year‑old cyclist and a tractor‑trailer; both parties were sober and the case is under police investigation. Additional incidents reported in the same period include a 45‑year‑old man who jumped from the Solina Dam into the reservoir on 21 July; the case was closed as a suicide with no third‑party involvement. A car left the road and struck a fence in Mrzygłód, and a Mazda collided with a police vehicle in Jaworzno, after which the driver fled the scene. Each event prompted emergency response and ongoing police inquiries, underscoring continued concerns about road safety where high‑speed traffic meets other vehicles. Also on 2 August 2026, a 40‑year‑old motorcyclist lost control while descending the S5 viaduct near Modliszewo, was thrown onto the roadway and required prolonged resuscitation. Emergency crews succeeded in restoring his vital functions and he was transported to hospital, where he survived the crash. Police are investigating the cause of this incident as well.
