A series of security incidents involving unknown substances and violent threats has prompted emergency responses at educational facilities across Poland. Following evacuations in Wadowice and Mińsk Mazowiecki, authorities have intensified security protocols. In the Masovian Voivodeship, 49 schools have transitioned to remote learning or modified schedules following incidents in Ostrołęka and near Wyszków. Law enforcement has conducted approximately 187,000 inspections, resulting in 183 detentions and 472 recorded incidents. Localized physical security measures include the installation of security gates in all primary schools in Inowrocław. Additionally, health inspections have assessed over 5,000 facilities regarding ventilation, lighting, and space standards to ensure student well-being. In a parallel effort to improve digital safety, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski has threatened to block access to platforms such as X, Meta, and Facebook if they fail to promptly remove illegal content, including material involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The government is increasingly focusing on digital safety to combat harmful content and potential hybrid warfare tactics. Public response to these measures remains divided; a SW Research survey indicates that 45.8% of respondents view the government’s actions positively. Recent violence in the Mazovia region, including an attack in Leszczydole-Nowiny that resulted in the death of a 37-year-old employee, has led to further escalations. The government has secured funding to equip all primary schools with entrance security gates and passed legislation granting courts and authorities the power to order the removal of illegal online content. Educational authorities have also issued specific guidelines for teachers regarding threats involving dangerous objects, increased police patrols near schools, and emphasized psychological support and emergency helplines for students and staff. Security challenges have recently expanded to include a wave of disinformation.
