The Polish video game industry is undergoing a concerted effort to promote its sector internationally and establish gaming as a significant element of the nation’s cultural heritage. This initiative, coordinated by the Institute of Creative Industries (IPK), includes large-scale activities such as the ‘Polish Video Game Days,’ immersive and retrospective exhibitions, a digital sale on GOG.com, and the creation of a ‘Polish Video Game Trail’ across 15 locations. Building on these promotional efforts, the Polish government is positioning the industry as a core pillar of national competitiveness. Officials have highlighted that Warsaw has emerged as Europe’s largest game development hub by personnel, surpassing cities like London and Stockholm. The sector is characterized by significant economic scale, with over 800 companies and nearly 15,000 specialists, and a high rate of international reach, with 97% of productions targeting global markets. Recent developments at the Game Industry Conference (GIC) 2026 in Poznań have further underscored the sector’s professional depth. The conference featured experts from major studios, including Techland, Larian, and Ubisoft, addressing technical and operational topics such as cybersecurity, legal management, and audio design. In Warsaw specifically, the industry now includes over 300 developers and publishers employing more than 6,300 professionals, featuring globally recognized studios such as CD Projekt Red and 11 bit studios.
