Polish zloty exchange rates: ~~June–August~~ June–September 2026

Following the fluctuations observed in mid-August 2026, the Polish zloty showed signs of strength against major currencies on 26 August. On that date, the USD/PLN stood at 3.6852, the EUR/PLN at 4.3014, the CHF/PLN at 4.5862, and the GBP/PLN at 5.0229. This resilience occurred despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and trade disputes between the USA and Canada. However, by 31 August, the zloty experienced renewed fluctuations. The US dollar trended upward to approximately 3.74 PLN, while the euro rose to around 4.34 PLN. The British pound traded above 5.07 PLN, and the Swiss franc moved near 4.62 PLN. The strengthening of the US dollar was linked to remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole forum, where he suggested interest rate hikes might be necessary if inflation does not show a sustained decline. Following these comments, market expectations for a US interest rate hike in September increased from 39.9% to 59.9%. Regarding the Swiss franc, the exchange rate against the zloty fluctuated between 4.6308 PLN on 31 August and 4.6130 PLN by midday on 1 September. The Swiss franc remains a point of interest for Polish holders of CHF-denominated mortgage loans, particularly as the market manages the transition from the CHF LIBOR rate to the SARON rate in accordance with European Commission regulations. In early September, the zloty continued to fluctuate. On 7 September, the US dollar was valued at 3.7085 PLN, the euro at 4.31 PLN, the Swiss franc at 4.5819 PLN, and the British pound at 5.0201 PLN. By 8 September, the euro was reported at 4.3101 PLN against the zloty.
