Pérez Cuéllar contested claims about the cost-effectiveness of the Ciudad Juárez model and called for audits of the company CIP Cruza, which has reportedly received approximately 495.4 million pesos in contracts under Bonilla’s administration. On August 12, 2026, Mayor Pérez Cuéllar announced plans to investigate the alleged illegal use of funds intended for a new sanitary landfill, claiming that resources were diverted to maintain existing facilities.
