Allegations of political interference have emerged regarding the Hungarian prosecution service. Former prosecutor Pál Fürcht claimed that superiors exerted pressure during the ‘Golden Convoy’ investigation by verbally dictating which individuals could be investigated to ensure there was ‘no written trace’ of such instructions. Magyar faces theft charges related to a 2024 incident involving a mobile phone, an investigation he has characterized as an ‘attempt at political assassination’ and a ‘disgrace.’ Additionally, prosecutors are pursuing investigations into former ministers Balázs Hankó regarding the alleged misuse of 47 million euros in public funds during a 2026 election campaign, and Miklós Seszták regarding allegations of receiving millions of euros in bribes related to the purchase of used buses at inflated prices between 2014 and 2018.
