Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has been involved in several political controversies. Shivakumar claimed the SIR process reduced the number of registered voters in Karnataka from 5.54 crore to 4.46 crore. He has warned minority communities to remain vigilant against a perceived conspiracy to remove them from electoral rolls, subsequently urging the President to dissolve the poll panel and arrest Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. These allegations follow claims by former Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson, who alleged that Kumar had previously suggested he contest a Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket. While the ECI has issued statements to address procedural allegations, the political standoff continues.
