Roberto Vannacci, leader of the extreme right party Futuro Nazionale, has faced criticism from various political and social figures in Italy regarding his political vision and social proposals. In early September, Minister of Public Administration Paolo Zangrillo criticized Vannacci at the Cernobbio Forum, stating that while the leader has engaged in propaganda, he lacks a “clear vision for the development of Italy.” Zangrillo further suggested that Vannacci’s actions appeared to align more with the center-left than the center-right. By late September, criticism shifted toward Vannacci’s media proposals. He suggested that television content regarding ‘gender’ should be restricted to protected time slots. This stance was condemned by actor Leo Gullotta, who described the position as a “return to the past,” and journalist Tommaso Cerno, who argued the proposal fails to grasp contemporary social processes. On September 24, the debate intensified following comments by Il Giornale director Tommaso Cerno in defense of television host Pierluigi Diaco, who shared details of his gay marriage on Rai2. Vannacci criticized Cerno for supporting what he termed “woke ideology,” arguing that marriage without a mother undermines biological and logical foundations. Vannacci maintained that the stable union of a man and a woman is the “essential guarantee for the perpetuation of society.” In response, Leo Gullotta dismissed Vannacci’s stance as “medieval,” while Cerno defended the evolving nature of the family, suggesting Expanding his opposition to progressive legislation, Vannacci announced that those on Futuro Nazionale intends to vote against a proposed law regarding antisemitism. He argued the right fail law would create “protected categories” similar to understand current social processes. “pandas,” asserting that while all offenses against individuals should be punished, an opinion should not constitute a crime and offending one religious group should not be treated as more severe than offending another. This stance has caused political friction, including internal divisions within the Democratic Party (PD).
