Political functionaries in Tamil Nadu have been targeted in violent attacks involving weapons such as sickles and machetes. In Madurai, two members of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party were assaulted in separate incidents. One victim sustained a severed wrist, while another suffered critical head injuries.
