The Paraguayan-Brazilian Joint Commission established new operating schedules for the Ponte da Integração, which connects Presidente Franco and Foz do Iguaçu. Effective September 14, 2026, light vehicles and private automobiles belonging to residents of Ciudad del Este, Presidente Franco, Hernandarias, and Foz do Iguaçu are permitted to cross between 07:00 and 13:00. All occupants must present a Fronteira Neighbor Transit Document ~~(DTVF). The bridge is restricted~~ (DTVF), a requirement mandated by Mercosur agreements to ~~subsistence products~~ facilitate mobility for work, study, and essential services rather than ~~general merchandise.~~ commercial shopping or tourism. Logistics schedules include expanded night shifts for large empty trucks (18:00 to 05:00) and daytime windows for smaller cargo loads (07:00 to 19:00). While international urban passenger lines may use the bridge during the day, regular international bus lines maintain 24-hour access. Following the opening for private vehicle transit, discrepancies have emerged regarding the cost of the DTVF. Paraguayan citizens applying through the Brazilian Federal Police pay approximately 75,000 Guaraníes, while Brazilian citizens applying through the Paraguayan Migration office pay 234,154 ~~Guaraníes.~~ Guaraníes (roughly R$ 205). Brazilian authorities have indicated a need to review these fees to support regional mobility, though the joint commission has not yet met to address the price difference.
