Since late July, Poços de Caldas has implemented various municipal initiatives focused on employment, infrastructure, and economic development. The city launched the Portal Emprega Poços, a free online job portal, and Santa Casa de Poços de Caldas organized a hiring mutirão for several service roles, including positions reserved for people with disabilities. Infrastructure and sanitation efforts have seen significant expansion. The Chega Junto program provided integrated services—such as street cleaning, tree pruning, lighting maintenance, and pothole repair—across eight neighborhoods, including Jardim São Paulo, Santa Rita, and Cascatinha. Concurrently, a partnership with the Federal University of Alfenas (UNIFAL-MG) restructured the Cata-Treco bulky-waste collection service, increasing daily capacity from approximately 12 to 40 requests, a 233% increase. In the health sector, the municipal health centre delivered roughly 910 free dental prostheses through the SUS in early August. To further strengthen the municipal health network, health teams from Primary Health Care (APS) and the Specialty Nucleus of the Municipal Health Secretariat recently met to align strategies, evaluate service flows, and improve coordination between prevention-focused care and specialized services. More recently, the City Council held a public hearing titled ‘Mental Health and Valorization of Life’ to discuss the expansion of care networks and the strengthening of public policies regarding mental health. Regarding long-term economic strategy, the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Innovation is preparing to launch the Local Innovation Ecosystem Intervention Plan on August 28, 2026. Developed with Sebrae, the plan seeks to integrate public authorities, universities, and entrepreneurs to strengthen regional connections. Additionally, the city’s Ecological Park is slated to receive six monitoring cameras by the end of the second half of 2026. Employment efforts continue with an employability fair hosted by Faculdade Anhanguera and the local government on August 14, which aims to connect job seekers with companies offering over 100 employment and internship positions.
