The city of Porto Velho initiated a series of community events titled ‘Esquenta de Aniversário’ to celebrate its upcoming 112th anniversary. The first edition was held at Praça do Abobrão in the South Zone, featuring a ‘Show de Talentos’ with 17 local performances, alongside activities focused on culture, leisure, and entrepreneurship. Following the initial event, celebrations moved to the East Zone at Praça CEU. Mayor Léo Moraes stated that the initiative aims to ‘bring celebrations closer to residents in different neighborhoods.’ This program includes a talent show, musical performances, an entrepreneurship fair, educational traffic activities, children’s activities, and various public services for local families. Further celebrations are scheduled for October 2 in front of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway, featuring national musical acts Mastruz com Leite and Mara Pavanelly. These performances are being funded through a cooperation agreement between the Porto Velho City Hall and Sesc, utilizing resources from the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, the ‘Porto Velho Kids – Festa da Alegria’ has been organized to celebrate the anniversary with a focus on younger residents. Taking place in front of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway Complex, the program includes attractions such as Furacão Kids, Bozo e Lelê, DJ Rodrigo Tavares, Vila Kids, and Banda K7. Funcultural president Débora Figueiredo noted the initiative aims to provide a dedicated celebration for children, while Mayor Léo Moraes stated the goal is to connect younger generations to the city. The children’s programming marked the conclusion of the city’s 112th anniversary celebrations, featuring musical performances by Furacão Kids, Bozó e Lelé, and DJ Rodrigo Tavares. As part of the ongoing anniversary festivities, a major street race is expected to draw 3,000 participants. Separately, the city is resuming the ‘Sorriso Curumim’ program, which aims to provide dental services to over a thousand children by utilizing previously unused dental facilities in municipal schools.
