The district of Setúbal registered the highest number of cases (135), followed by Porto (113), Lisbon (93) and Aveiro (59). Interior districts showed sharp percentage jumps, with Portalegre up 200%, Viseu up 150% and Leiria up 71%, suggesting organized crime networks are expanding beyond major urban centres.

GNR urged vehicle owners to park in well‑lit or secured areas, use surveillance or alarms, and report suspicious activity. The force also announced intensified patrols, inspections of workshops and scrap‑yards, and road checks to curb the crime.
