Portuguese wineries have announced several new vintage releases, including releases. Quinta das Queimas is launching the Eira Velha Branco 2024 2024, a limited production of 1,600 bottles from the Dão region. Quinta das Queimas and da Boavista, owned by the Kopke Group, has introduced six new vintages from its Douro estate, including the Vinha do Levante 2023, which marks the estate’s first white wine. In the Douro region, premium offerings have also emerged. Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo released the Mirabilis Tinto 2023, utilizing centennial vines and over 40 grape varieties. Meanwhile, Quinta da Boavista’s Douro estate. Boeira launched two limited editions: the Boeira Tawny 80 Anos, a Port wine aged for eight decades, and the Boeira Vinhas Velhas 2023, a red wine from old vines in Alijó. Broader trends in Portuguese wine culture show evolving consumption patterns, such as the rise of modern aperitifs like ‘Porto Tónico’ alongside traditional Port wine. While Port wine historically gained prominence in the 17th century, newer styles like dry white Port are being marketed for lighter consumption. Regional diversity remains a key feature, with distinct profiles offered by the Península de Setúbal to the south and the Atlantic-influenced areas of Bucelas and Colares to the north and west.
