Poste Italiane continues to expand its service offerings and infrastructure. The company is actively promoting its ‘Poste Delivery Web’ service, which allows travelers to ship suitcases and parcels to holiday destinations or homes via web or mobile applications. For domestic shipments in Italy, items can weigh up to 70 kg, while international shipments are limited to 30 kg. The service includes tracking via email, SMS, or the official website, and features ‘Borsellino Spedizioni,’ allowing users to recharge credit for simplified payments and receive up to a 15% bonus on certain top-ups. In its effort to integrate public administration services into post offices, the company is advancing the ‘Polis Project,’ specifically targeting municipalities with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants. Funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and promote economic and social cohesion in rural and internal areas. The project has reached its final stage in Sicily, having renovated post offices in 325 small Sicilian centers. These locations now feature single-window service points providing access to INPS pension services, civil registry certificates, and passport applications alongside traditional postal and financial services. Recent expansions have seen the completion of renovations in Villa Cortese, Poggio Renatico, and Quindici, as well as 19 offices across the province of Trapani. In Southern Sardinia, 100 of 113 targeted post offices have been renovated, leading to a surge in electronic passport applications. ~~Recent data indicates a significant shift toward digital pension payments in several provinces.~~ As part of the Polis project, the company is also expanding into sustainable mobility.
