Following suggestions from co-creator Ryan Murphy regarding a potential revival of the musical comedy series ‘Glee’, actress Lea Michele expressed her openness to participating in a reboot. Ryan Murphy has confirmed that a script for the reboot has been completed through a collaboration with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, the same writing team behind the original series' first two seasons. Murphy reported that he has been in contact with approximately 10 original cast members who are “very enthusiastic” about the project, though they have expressed various questions. While actors such as Michele and Jane Lynch have expressed interest, Murphy noted that no cast members have read the full scenes or the complete script yet. He intends to write more episodes and additional drafts to gather feedback from the original cast, citing their close working relationship during the show’s original run. The project is currently being developed through 20th Television, though it has not yet been officially placed with a specific streaming platform or network. Actor Chris Colfer, who portrayed Kurt Hummel, recently addressed rumors regarding the revival, stating he has heard “absolutely nothing” and has not been contacted about participating. Colfer noted the difficulty of revisiting the show following the passing of former co-star Naya Rivera, though he joked that fans might react with “pitchforks and jazz hands” if he declined to return.
