Prague Václav Havel Airport is expanding its winter flight connections to various mountain destinations. A significant development includes the reinstatement of a direct route between Prague and Poprad, Slovakia, by Wizz Air after a hiatus of more than 15 years. This Starting October 25, 2026, this service is scheduled to operate three times weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with capacity expected to increase during the Christmas and New Year period. The Poprad route was finalized following approximately 18 months of negotiations between regional tourism organizations, including Region Vysoké Tatry and Region Liptov. The flight is expected to reduce travel time from nearly seven hours by car to less than one hour by plane, boosting accessibility for skiing destinations like Jasná and thermal wellness facilities such as Tatralandia and Bešeňová. Additionally, SkyAlps is set to launch a direct service from Prague to Bolzano, Italy, starting December 9, 2026. This route will operate twice weekly through March 28, 2027, using Dash 8-Q400 aircraft to provide access to the Dolomites. Tourism officials anticipate these connections will boost travel to the High and Low Tatras and the Liptov region, following a reported 30 percent increase in Czech visitors to those areas.
