Pranavi Urs secured a historic gold medal in women’s individual golf at the 2026 Asian Games, becoming the first Indian woman golfer to achieve this feat. Competing at the Kasugai Country Club East Course in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, the 23-year-old from Mysuru finished the four-day tournament with a total score of 15-under 265. During the final round, Urs overcame a triple bogey on the third hole that erased her three-stroke lead. She recovered with birdies on the sixth, 10th, and 13th holes to win by a single stroke over China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan, who both finished at 14-under. In addition to her individual success, Urs contributed to the Indian women’s team winning a silver medal. Alongside teammates Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, the squad finished with a total score of 14-under 546, trailing the gold-medal winning Chinese team, who finished at 22-under 538. This silver medal marks India’s first medal in the women’s team golf event at the Asian Games. Urs’s individual victory also represents India’s first golf gold since Shiv Kapur’s men’s individual win in 2002. Following her victory, the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) announced a reward of ₹1 crore for Urs and ₹25 lakh each for the members of the silver-winning team.
