The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has implemented successive reductions in the local prices of gold and silver. On August 29, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori decreased by 7,115 BDT, bringing the total price including VAT to 240,628 BDT. This adjustment followed several price increases earlier in the month. Silver prices were also lowered, with 22-carat silver set at 5,307 BDT per bhori. By August 31, BAJUS announced a further reduction attributed to declining international market rates. The price of 22-carat gold per bhori was reduced by an additional 4,374 Taka, resulting in a new price of 231,880 Taka. Silver prices were also adjusted downward, with 22-carat silver priced at 5,015 Taka per bhori. Following three consecutive rounds of reductions, BAJUS reversed the trend on September 3. Driven by the rising cost of pure gold, the association increased prices for both metals. The price of 22-carat gold jewelry, including VAT, rose by approximately 5,482 BDT per bhori, reaching a range of 237,348 to 237,362 BDT. Silver prices also saw an upward adjustment, with 22-carat silver rising to 5,132 BDT per bhori. On September 6, BAJUS announced a new reduction in gold prices following a decrease in the local cost of pure gold. The price of 22-carat gold, including VAT, was lowered by 2,216 BDT per bhori to 235,146 BDT. This marked the 112th price adjustment in the country for the year, consisting of 56 increases and 56 decreases. Market volatility continued into mid-September.
