President Claudia Sheinbaum continues her nationwide implementation of federal social and infrastructure programs. In Tamaulipas, the administration has reported that 1.1 million residents benefit from social welfare, including pensions for seniors and people with disabilities, totaling an investment of 23,822 million pesos. To support the agricultural and livestock sectors, over 103 million pesos have been allocated for 2026 to combat pests and diseases. Additionally, the Secretary of Education is organizing a large-scale assessment for 700,000 students in Spanish, Mathematics, and Science, while the state manages an extreme drought following the driest August in 40 years. By the second quarter of 2026, Tamaulipas reported a 5.3 percent economic growth rate, bolstered by more than 175 confirmed investment projects valued at over 21 billion dollars. These investments are concentrated in the automotive, energy, IT, agro-industrial, and electrical-electronic sectors. ~~The state’s labor market remains stable with 693,000 formal jobs registered with the IMSS.~~ Infrastructure development has seen over 24 billion pesos invested across 43 municipalities for projects such as hospitals and highways. Social initiatives also include the distribution of food packages to 300,000 families and the expansion of community health clinics. Recent data from INEGI indicates a significant surge in industrial activity, with Tamaulipas reporting a 15.7 percent year-on-year growth in June. This performance placed the state first nationally for industrial expansion. This growth was primarily driven by a 107.4 percent annual increase in the mining sector, while the manufacturing industry grew by 4.8 percent and the construction sector increased by 8.1 percent. Despite this growth, challenges persist. Approximately 300 companies are involved in legal disputes with the SAT and IMSS regarding alleged unjustified charges, and the state is seeking 48 million pesos from DiDi for unpaid transportation taxes. Furthermore, heavy rains in Matamoros have recently disrupted school activities, leading authorities to recommend remote learning in certain areas. In Guanajuato, Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo announced that President Sheinbaum is scheduled to visit the state on September 18, likely in Irapuato or Celaya. The visit will focus on priority projects such as railway and mobility developments, coordination with the federal Security Cabinet, and the ‘Agua para Guanajuato’ integral project, which includes the Solís-León Aqueduct.
